More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I guess I'm most passionate about trying new things & experiencing all that life has to offer. As to hobbies / sport, I'm kind of a jack-of-all trades, master of none. I do prefer being outside: hiking, team sports (softball, soccer, volleyball, etc.) horseback riding & white water rafting, running, SCUBA, etc. Also enjoy a nice evening out on the town (ie: dinner & a play, etc.) Other hobbies I dabble in are writing & photography. But experiencing life & my passion for the same isn't limited to hobbies... I'm passionate about my faith, friends, family, volunteer activities, learning, etc. I thrive better w/ passion for work.

I typically spend my leisure time

Varies season - season, yr - yr. Currently softball 2 X's / wk (I'm usually involved in @ least 1 recerational team sport.) A lot of business & social netwoking; I'm usually only home 1-2 nights /wk. Love taking my dogs hiking on the wknds. Travel as much as possible (ie: 2 wk trip to Spain last fall; & a long wknd to NOLA for my b-day last month.) Try to go out west for ski trip @ least every 1-2 yrs (Steamboat in Jan.) I just like to try it all. A relaxing wknd @ home is nice too, though! Still searching for a good church home & Bible study in my new town - tougher than I thought it would be. I was very active in my old church.

The most influential person in my life has been

Can't narrow it down to just one, but here are my top three: COMMUNICATION, COMMUNICATION, COMMUNICATION. I expect honesty & openess in any relationship & I always offer the same in return. Also very important: intelligence, compassion, ambition, great sense of humor (clever, witty & a bit of dry sarcasm is what I'm best at & what I tend to enjoy in others) and of course, Christian faith (denomination affiliation is not as important as faith & relationship w/ Christ.)

The first thing people notice about me

I know "smile" is considered appearance, but I would guess that's what most people notice first. And I enjoy smiling often. Its nice to think that sometimes, when you smile at a complete stranger on the street & 9 times out of 10 they smile back, that you may have just been a bright spot in their day. Next, I guess people would notice that I'm pretty outgoing / easy to talk to. Or if you're doing a business deal w/ me I'm a very good negotiator: tough, but fair & I like walking away after a completed transaction & everyone feels like they got a good deal(ie: win/win result.)

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I started or the last book I finished? Big Difference! I have sitting unfinished on my night stand: From Good to Great (why some companies make the leap); plus 1 Bible study; 1 self-help; 1 on Iraq War, etc. I want to pick up Hannity's latest. I prefer non-fiction but am trying to expand my horizons. A recently read & enjoyed The Master & Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov a great classic fantasy / political sattire & This Side of Paradise, Fitzgerald. I put down The Purpose Driven Life after a few chapters, ask me why. But loved Mere Christianity (Lewis) & The Cost of Discipleship (Bonhoeffer.) Guess I prefer the classics.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Family - blessed to have parents that are dedicated, loving, supportive; Plus I'm close w/ my brothers & their families
  2. Friends - countless acquaintances which are great fun - but a few select soul-mates that are truly God-sent; my rocks
  3. God-given gifts including: intelligence, compassion & ability to communicate well, which have blessed & enhanced my life in numerous ways

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

This is a tough one... I may have to come back to this.

A little more about me

So much more to share in time with the right person. As deep as this site goes, it still can't begin to uncover all of the wonderful intricacies and unique attributes that make up a personality, now can it? I will say this, on a more superficial level... I have a very unique / recognizable first name and due to this site's goal of anonymity until a match is made (and being new to the site & not quite sure how it will work) I prefer to keep my first name private until the inital communication. I appreciate your understanding. Thanks.
