The one thing I am passionate about...
I'm passionate about people, nature, music, ideas, good food, good writing and good design. Animals, especially dogs and horses. Keeping fit. Natural light. My family and friends. Cookouts in summer. Writer Adam Gopnik. Bach and the Blues. Comedy - Ricky Gervais, Ray Romano, Chris Rock. Art deco of the 20s and 30s. The American West. Being outdoors - hiking, running, swimming. I've often thought it would be great if the nightclubs of the 40s and 50s came back so people could enjoy dressing up, dining, live music and dancing all in the same place. On the other hand, I'm happy to nest at home.
I typically spend my leisure time
Socializing with close friends and family (I'm the eldest of six girls). Staying fit (I'm a former dancer) via exercise classes and running. Reading, never enough time for it. Live music. I love good food - Italian, Thai, Japanese, Greek, Indian are favorites. Seeing films and plays. I enjoy visiting historic homes and museums. Volunteer ministry, I taught a course at the Bowery Mission Men's Transition Center on job readiness.
The most influential person in my life has been
A man who knows who he is and likes who he is. I also value brainpower, fair-mindedness, humility, trustworthiness, an ironic sense of humor and a warm heart. A gentleman.
The first thing people notice about me
The last book I read and enjoyed
I'm usually reading several at once, lately, "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman, "Wild Swans" by Jung Chang, "Our Endangered Values" by Jimmy Carter. I'll tell you about them if we meet.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family and friends
- My faith and good health
- The diversity of my professional and personal experiences
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'm more introverted than I appear. My eHarmony profile says I'm extremely talkative but this is untrue. I'm often contentedly silent.
Friends Describe me as
Articulate, Intelligent, Outgoing, Warm
