More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Running. Reading and writing. Teaching. Enjoying good music & independent films. And relationships.

I typically spend my leisure time

Running. Reading. Journaling. Evenings at McMenamin's. Playing guitar. Thriftstore shopping. Catching live music. And when the magic is there...karaoking.

The most influential person in my life has been

Passion - passion for relationships, for beauty and worship, for truth and for a meaningful life.

The first thing people notice about me

People often tell me that they feel a natural connection when they meet me, as if we've known each other forever. I like that. I believe a big part of that has to do with the fact that I strive to do my best to be attentive in all my conversations, to value people and their stories (particularly their journeys).

The last book I read and enjoyed

I'm re-reading "Blue Like Jazz" by Don Miller. The book is about Don's journey of restoring and reconnecting his own heart to truth in the midst of messy spirituality and churchdom. I love Don's raw candor. He has such a gift for communicating the struggles of following Christ and believing in faith in times of doubt. Unlike his predecessors, Don's book is completely void of formulas or equations or "how to's" and other trivial pursuits. Instead, the book is brutally honest, confusing, beautiful, non-linear, and tender to the core - much like all good relationships.I also recently finished David Sedaris' newest book. Must read.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My relationship with Christ
  2. My personal journey
  3. Running - It keeps me sane

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Contrary to what others may think, I really do enjoy rest. Just b/c the toy is wound up now doesn't mean the toy won't need some downtime later. Or at least a good run.
