More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about faith, about becoming a better person, and about child advocacy (giving a voice to the voiceless).

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy reading, sleeping, catching up with friends, and sometimes playing games (puzzles, card games, board games, word games). I do tend to watch a bit of tv most evenings.

The most influential person in my life has been

It's very important to meet another person who is spiritual, and has an active relationship with Christ. In addition to that intelligence and humor are also important. I think it's important to have an attraction and as I get older I find most people are good looking even if they don't think of themselves that way. I hope to find someone who appreciates that we can balance and complete each other with our differences.

The first thing people notice about me

Well, initially when meeting people I am quiet and "shy" but once I warm up people notice my humor for sure. People tend to think I am very serious because of my initial quietness.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just finished reading a book called A Severe Mercy about a husband and wife's journey of faith and the wife's illness and death. I liked the honesty in the book and the ways that I could identify with the two main people. We are all on a similar journey, seeking to be more like Christ, only the details are different. I also read a funny mysterious kids book called The Westing Game that I remember reading in 6th or 7th grade, I liked it because it made me laugh out loud a few times.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am very thankful for the good health of my family and myself. I didn't always appreciate this as much as I do now.
  2. I am thankful for my faith and a church community that I am regularly a part of and has contributed a lot to my life.
  3. I am thankful for the ability to do what I love for a living (teaching).

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My Humor!? No, actually I wish people would know how good I am with kids. I guess because I can be shy when people first meet me they don't realize how comfortable and confident I am with all children. I'm quite proud of my abilities in this area so I wish more people would notice.

A little more about me

A few years ago I returned from living overseas teaching English with a Christian organization for 4 years in Central Asia and Central Europe (Uzbekistan, Czech Republic and Slovakia). This experience greatly changed me and challenged me, helping me to become more of who I really am. I love learning, languages, cultures and improving myself (seeking to be more like Christ).
