More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about many things, but I would say I am most passionate about seeking understanding of this journey that we call life, and sharing that understanding. I like to ask the great questions about why we are where, what we are, and what we should do, not because I believe I will find concrete answers, but because of the seeking itself.

I typically spend my leisure time

There are so many things I try to find time for that it is hard to do any of them justice. I like some stereotypically geeky things like videogames, science fiction, and fantasy. I also enjoy hiking and camping. I love a good philisophical/spiritual discussion. I enjoy documentaries, movies, the arts, reading and writing both prose and poetry, and cooking organic meals.

The most influential person in my life has been

Without a doubt honesty is the single most important quality I am looking for, and I cannot imagine a relationship ever working without it. Beyond honesty I am looking for someone that is on a spiritual journey for understanding and spiritual development. A journey I hope we can make together.

The first thing people notice about me

Most people quickly notice that I can be shy initially. This changes as I get to know people, but it can take me a little time for me to warm up and become talkative.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The History of Hell. It's an interesting book about the origin of the concept of an underworld particularly in Christianity. As a consequence it also touches a lot on how modern Christianity evolved from older and simpler religions. I definitely found it a fascinating and insightful read.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Love, in all it's forms and meanings
  2. Creativity, the spark of art, spirituality, and philosophy
  3. Intellect, the root of science and language, which allows us to communicate feelings and ideas

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That the criticism I sometimes express of the world is part of an attempt to find true objectivity, and that it is paired with an equal amount of love, passion, and awe of the same things I am critical of. If I get angry at how something is it is because I am staggered by what it could be.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Intelligent, Passionate, Spiritual

A little more about me

Sometimes I feel like I am living in a world full of people who sleepwalk through life. I want to be awake. I would rather be dealing with reconciling contradictions and struggling with questions that don't have final answers than just accept that I cannot understand everything and give up trying. I want to try to understand the universe, knowing I cannot, because it is the trying that makes me feel alive.
