More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I think that I am most passionate about discovery. Learning new things and seeing new places just thrills me, and it is why I became a scientist. Learning about the natural world, in particular, is what I feel I am most passionate about.

I typically spend my leisure time

Eating out, seeing friends from work, reading (I'm a dork who enjoys things like JRR Tolkein and Robert Jordan), exercising, or playing pool. The weekends I usually use to go someplace, either visiting family or for driving off to a random location of interest.

The most influential person in my life has been

Honesty. Pure and simple.

The first thing people notice about me

Everyone seems to notice the white streak in my hair, but that's an appearance thing. I think most people would see the side that I try to portray to the world, which is blunt and no-nonsense. I can warm up quickly to people I like, though, and I have a sense of humor that wins most people over eventually.

The last book I read and enjoyed

That would probably be "The Knife of Dreams" by Robert Jordan. It is one of those sword-and-sorcery style books that people seem to either love or hate. I just happen to love them. Describing this book would be very difficult, though, because it is the 11th book in a series, and the plot would be extremely confusing if you hadn't read the previous 10!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family
  2. My good health
  3. My freedom

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I would say that a lot of people think that I am going to be overbearing or mean, and though this is useful when I am trying to get my money back for defective products or something, I'm really a big teddy bear. Anyone who knows me for a while can tell you that though I seem a little gruff on the outside, I'm very warm to people I care about.

Friends Describe me as
