More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I believe that being passionate about the ordinary is as important as being passionate about the extraordinary things in life. I embrace my job as a teacher because I am passionate about children and am inspired by their boldness and spirit. I am passionate about the newness of every day, encountering new people, new books, and new experiences, each of which winds up enriching me in ways I never imagined. I suppose I am most passionate about ideals, with trust and respect being at the very top of my list. Perhaps there are other kindred spirits out there who have made these ideals a priority in their life. That would be nice.

I typically spend my leisure time

I spend my leisure time running, racewalking, reading ( a lot!), playing with my kids, walking my dog and other people's dogs, and taking more walks if needed. I love to walk and be outside. It's very calming for me.

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindness, compassion, a sense of humor, and a love for animals are probably all tied for first place!

The first thing people notice about me

My bubbly personality...I have a tendancy to be pretty perky not because it's some sort of affect I want to convey but rather because I REALLY am someone that likes being with people and engaging in conversation.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Animals in Translation by Temple Grandin. This author is autistic and wrote about the parallels between autistic people and animals, deciphering many of the myths and misuunderstandings that are attached to both groups while detailing many of the similarities about how both groups think, act and feel. It is a wonderful exploration of a topic that I am very interested in both as an educator of special need children and as a passionate animal lover.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. my children
  2. my resilience and tenacity
  3. my friends

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My intellect I suppose. I have a very youthful voice and I also look young so many times those two qualities are associated with someone who isn't on the ball and lacks depth. That bothers me.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Genuine, Physically Fit, Sweet

A little more about me

Only that what I lack in height (I am barely 5'2) I make up for in personality, kindness, compassion and enthusiasm.
