The one thing I am passionate about...
I LOVE learning new things. Be it riding a bike, yes I just learned how, facts on ancient China or SF history. The more bizarre the better, I'd much prefer to learn about Medieval living than rocket science. Continuing to learn and grow both educationally and emotionally is something I feel very strongly about. If we don't grow and learn, aren't we are doing something wrong?
I typically spend my leisure time
I like to be outside - just walk around, take leisurely bike rides, hikes, day trips exploring little historical towns, explore the Sacramento caverns (love those caves and stories), explore SF,eat, hang out with friends, try to figure out Photoshop, ride my scooter with friends, go to the Marsh theater, check out divey(?) bars and play pool, Oh yeah and I watch TV, PBS is the channel of choice (no cable). You get the idea.
The most influential person in my life has been
Boy that's hard to narrow down to one item, but I guess it's....being genuine. What you see is what you get kind of genuine and genuinely funny is nice too.
The first thing people notice about me
I asked a new coworker and he said, that his first impression was I am a "good time girl" meaning that I like to have fun and that I strike him as adventurous.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Dragon Lady, (I think that was the title, it is out on loan) which is a non-fiction book about China's last Empress, the Empress Dowager Tzu-Hsi, and the circumstances that caused the decline of the Ching dynasty. What I liked most was that it read like a novel while being loaded with historical facts ranging from the Opinion Wars, the Boxer Rebellion and palace protocol to name just a few.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- That I live in a free country where I can do as I choose
- That my friends, my family and I all enjoy good health, both physical and mental
- That I live in the most amazing city in the country - San Francisco
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Nothing comes to mind.
Friends Describe me as
Genuine, Good listener, Intelligent, Optimistic
A little more about me
I love art and architecture, I like to paint and draw. I love animals and I square dance. I am really into history and am a member of the SF Museum and Historical Society. I was trained to work as a tutor for Project Read, was a volunteer "friend" for "Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly" and may be leading a tour of the Richmond in the near future
