More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Reading good books. Listening to good music. Enjoying good food. Respectfully debating the exact nature of what it means for something to be "good" within the context of those three things. Intimacy. Trust. Warmth. Table manners. Questioning everything that matters. Respectfully debating the things that "matter" with friends. Red wine. Guinness. (Sometimes) video games. Trying to do the right thing without attributing any resulting success or lack thereof to god(s). Cats. Sexuality. Writing. Being worthy of the love, warmth and safety my parents put into raising me.

I typically spend my leisure time

Reading. Gym. Music. Tracing paths around and finding the forgotten and curious things in Old Town Alexandria.

The most influential person in my life has been

Someone who can hold a conversation about things other than: American Idol, Lost, TV in general, celeb worship, top 40 music, fake happy endings, etc.Someone who isn't afraid to delve deeper into the truth of things, be it dark and ugly or not exactly mainstream--but still able to come away with a little hope and a knowing smile.Someone who isn't overly religious.

The first thing people notice about me

I get "genuine" and "open" rather often after they break through my somewhat shy exterior.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I read half a dozen books a month and several at a time so it's a bit difficult to pinpoint that. I'll go ahead and list my favorite book of all time. "In Silent Graves" by Gary A. Braunbeck. An indescribably layered, touching and honest story of loss, fantasy, rebirth and hope.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. family, though they're far away
  2. health
  3. the neighborhood in which i live

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I prefer to let each person judge that for themselves. I find that each will come away with something different--which is much more interesting than anything I could wish for.

Friends Describe me as
