More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about relationships... which is perhaps another way of saying that I'm most passionate about the people in my life. I feel happy when I know I can reach out to others and figure out ways to enjoy this journey we call "life" with them. I enjoy trying to understand different perspectives and learning from the experiences of others. I like feeling like I can offer support when needed. Though I would not describe myself as an extrovert, I am certainly passionate about people. This passion is at the core of my friendships, parenting and teaching. I feel this passion for people has made me who I am.

I typically spend my leisure time

I have many interests. I love to travel. I enjoy the outdoors...just taking it in and walking, biking(did MS 150), gardening, cross-country skiing. I enjoy watching sports, particularly college basketball, the Twins (I would like to go to spring training),and football to some extent because I grew up in Nebraska where loving Big Red football was mandatory. I enjoy going to movies, concerts plays, art exhibits. Finally, I can't get along without music and reading.

The most influential person in my life has been

The first thing people notice about me

The first thing people notice about me is my sincere interest in other people.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri was the story about a boy born in America to parents who had moved to the U.S. from India. The book described the difficulties of hanging on to one's cultural values both for the parents and their son "Gogol." I enjoy books that look beyond people's actions to consider why we do what we do. I also enjoyed learning about different cultures, something that increases in importance as our world grows ever smaller.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My daughters, Claire and Elizabeth two wonderful young women - we are very close and have much fun together
  2. My close friends who I count on for both companionship and compassion
  3. My good health - not something to be taken for granted

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My fun loving nature and my sense of humor.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Energetic, Loyal, Perceptive
