More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about my job, teaching. I love it on both the day-to-day basis of spending time with my kids and getting to talk to them about math, but also in the long-term sense of being able to impact and hopefully improve these kids' lives. It is important to me that I make some kind of contribution to the world, and teaching allows me to do that every day. Plus, it's fun, my kids crack me up :)

I typically spend my leisure time

Relaxing in whatever form appeals at the time -- skiing, hiking, soccer, reading, hanging out with friends, or perhaps just chilling on the couch. I love the beach and the mountains and try to spend as much time outside as I can (it's good for the soul).

The most influential person in my life has been

It's hard to say that only one thing is the most important ... honesty, kindness, and a sense of adventure are probably the three most important (even though three is cheating a little). The elusive "chemistry" is obviously what we're all searching for, but that's not exactly a personal quality.

The first thing people notice about me

I'm fun!

The last book I read and enjoyed

I'm always working on at least one book, so the answer to this question changes often. Most recently I was blown away by "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson -- amazing book. The title pretty much sums it up ... It's a history of scientific thought and discovery starting with the big bang and ending now, VERY interesting (seriously!)

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family
  2. Career success
  3. My health and physical fitness

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My nerdy side. I can hide it, but it's there. There's not too many social occasions when the conversation turns to solving equations -- I wish there were! So I keep it to myself :)
