More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Since I start each day by running (and yoga practice), and have been a runner for 30 years, I guess staying physically fit is a passion! But I also enjoy witty conversations about current events, politics and human nature. I'm generally energized by activity and active people. I garden, camp, hike with my dog, work on local political campaigns, cook, design knitwear, read, write, go out with friends (and keep trying to find time to study French!) I used to teach golf and be a volleyball coach and really enjoyed seeing others learn and succeed. There aren't enough hours in the day for all my interests.

I typically spend my leisure time

Physical fitness, walking and running with my dog, gardening, taking care of my house, reading newspapers and books, visiting with friends, playing golf.

The most influential person in my life has been

Self-awareness, good mental health, confidence, non-controlling nature.

The first thing people notice about me

Pleasant, calm personality.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I read "Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain" by Sharon Begley, about neuroplasticity and how meditation can rewire the brain's circuits. Excellent scientific research and facts on the value of "mental fitness" vs. medication and other crutches to improve your mental health. Really a great insight into happiness and contentment -- all under our own control.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. That I am healthy and physically active, which brings me enjoyment and serenity.
  2. That I have developed the emotional maturity and self-awareness to understand my motivations and those of others.
  3. That there are still some good people out there despite the craziness, greed and war in the world.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My fun, friendly side.

Friends Describe me as

Dependable, Genuine, Physically Fit, Rational

A little more about me

I consider myself a "Renaissance Chick" -- able to remodel my house, play a great game of golf or wear a designer suit with style. I am well-traveled and worldly, so I'm comfortable in a wide range of situations.
