More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

expanding my horizons -- learning to see the world from different perspectives -- continually improving towards being a good decent human being

I typically spend my leisure time

I recently started taking a Spanish class (to better integrate into the Southern Arizona community). So, lately I find myself trying to study a little Spanish each night. Otherwise, I would read non-fiction and watch some TV (what is life without the History Channel?). Exercising.

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindness, compassion and a sense of humor -- with these, all other good things are possible

The first thing people notice about me

People who first meet me tell me that I am a very down-to-earth, grounded person.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read was "Ghost Map" by Steven Johnson (historical non-fiction). It was a good true detective story about how 2 very opposite personalities -- one, a physician, the other, a minister -- came together to solve one of the greatest medical mysteries up to that point -- the origin of cholera. What I most liked was not only was the detective story written in a compelling fashion, but more so that it focused on what was it about these 2 men that allowed them to solve this great puzzle when others maybe more qualified could not. It was actually quite inspiring. (Who knew you could buy such a book in a terminal at O'Hare...)

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. good family
  2. health
  3. being able to see that much good can come from apparently bad situations/events -- everything happens for a reason

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

my sense of humor

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Good listener, Intelligent, Loyal

A little more about me

I was born and raised in Chicagoland -- actually, Joliet (a la Joliet Jake of Blues Brothers fame). Go Bears! :-)
