The one thing I am passionate about...
I love to travel, the more remote the destination the better. I have been lucky enough to see the sun set on the Annapurna Himalayas and watched dolphins playing off the prow of the fishing boat I was taking across the Straits of Lombok off of Bali. Most of the time though, I just travel around Virginia and Maryland by car, and enjoy it nearly as much.
I typically spend my leisure time
My two favorite leisure past-times are eating and photography. They both complement my love of travel, because the former is one of the reasons I love to travel, and the latter is my way of holding onto the places I have been. I really love it when my friends enjoy food as much as I do and don't mind it when I just have to get a 'shot' just right, or are there with their own camera elbowing me aside to get the perfect picture.
The most influential person in my life has been
A love of life. She just has to enjoy herself, and take joy in others.
The first thing people notice about me
That my sense of humor is just a bit dry, but very seldom spiteful.
The last book I read and enjoyed
The Alienist by Caleb Carr. It is about a psychiatrist before there was psychiatry, forced to search for a serial killer in the worst parts of New York City in 1896 aided only by a trusted friend, and Teddy Roosevelt... I loved the evocative atmosphere, the description of a real city that I will never see, but I feel now that I can visualize it just a bit better.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My health, everything relates to what your condition is physically.
- My friends, it is a joy to just feel comfortable, and challenged, by close friends.
- My work, because it allows me a good income and incredible opportunities.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
That though I might argue a position quite strongly, it doesn't always mean that I am 100% convinced, never to change my ground.
Friends Describe me as
Articulate, Easy-Going, Intelligent, Perceptive
A little more about me
If there is a phrase I try to live by, it would be 'Carpe Diem', which is nearly the extent of my latin, unfortunately.
