More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Exploring the world through art, literature, travel, by my staying up to date on the world's current events and politics, and through my personal day to day interactions with others.

I typically spend my leisure time

At the gym, working in my yard, kayaking, cycling, watching movies. I also like to read fiction and non-fiction, and to keep up on current events, politics, and the business world. I regularly read the Economist and the New Yorker. I also enjoy taking advantage of the cultural activities around D.C. (does going out for ice cream count as a cultural activity?).

The most influential person in my life has been

I am looking for someone who wants to get alot out of life, and yet wants a stable home life. I want her to do what she needs to do for her own happiness (ie. her career and/or friends), but also would want her to enjoy many activities as a couple, such as going out to restaurants and entertainment events (listening to live music, museums, etc.), or other activities, such as perhaps taking lessons together (tennis? ballroom dancing? etc.). I like to spend alot of time with my partner, and while dating seriously would like to see her almost every night.

The first thing people notice about me

I am pleasant and easy-going. For you Meyers-Briggs people out there, I am an ENTP, though I don't think any 4 letter abbreviation can really describe someone well.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The Lonely Planet series guide on Morocco - looking forward to going one day. Book on CD - "That's Not What I Meant" by Deborah Tannen - how subtle things in how we communicate can lead to unnecessary misunderstandings, and how to communicate more effectively. "The Mission Song" by John Le Carre' - a spy novel for escapism!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. my family
  2. my health
  3. my free time

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My sense of humor - it sometimes is a little on the dry side or sometimes sharply witty. Sometimes it would have been better if they HADN'T noticed my sense of humor.

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Funny, Generous, Genuine

A little more about me

I intend on moving into Northern Virginia, perhaps to Alexandria or Arlington, in the near future. Though I love my work, my free time is very important to me. Therefore, I make sure that I don't overwork, and that I have plenty of time for recreational activities and travel.
