More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about finding ways to improve myself and my situation. For example, things like eating right and working out are high on my list because of the physical benefits they provide. I'm also passionate about becoming financially independent someday, not just for me but also for the ability to help others such as my family or friends. So I try to learn as much as I can about personal finance, stay out of debt, and save as much as I can.

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy a variety of activities including movies, watching TV, eating out, cooking, working out, travel, reading, spending time with friends or family.

The most influential person in my life has been

The most important quality I am looking for is honesty. I think honesty is at the core of a person's ability to share with someone and love them. Any successful relationship requires a certain measure of trust between partners, and that cannot

The first thing people notice about me

To be honest it seems to take a while before people notice me beyond my appearance. Because I'm 6'6" and taller than 99.99% of people, it tends to be the focus. Even in my mid-thirties, I have family and friends that still ask me, "are you getting taller"? But if I have to pick something, I would say it has to be my gentle nature. I've been referred to as a "gentle giant".

The last book I read and enjoyed

Eating for Life by Bill Philips. It takes a subject like nutrition and breaks it down into simple, common-sense fundamentals. After years of not knowing how to eat right, I'm learning when to eat, how often, and how much to try to get in the best shape I can. The book helps motivate you to want to eat right.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Having good overall health
  2. Having a good head on my shoulders
  3. Family and friends that support me

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I may take a while to set my mind to doing something, but when I do I always try to follow through. So I'm very careful about making decisions, especially those that have long term consequences.

Friends Describe me as

Hard Working, Intelligent, Rational, Respectful

A little more about me

I'm a low maintenance guy meaning I cook, clean, and pick up after myself, so any woman should know they won't have to do that with me! I can enjoy the simple things in life, which helps me be financially responsible. Don't get me wrong, I would love a nice Lexus, but not enough to where my savings rate drops to 0. I'm a strong believer that you should live below your means, so that you can save enough for your future. In fact, because my mother (a widower) doesn't have much to live on and I'm her only son, I'll need to begin assisting her as well.
