The one thing I am passionate about...
Finding someone who I can trust, who is genuine and honest. A person who provides support, encouragement, and humor. Ideally, a person who is not overly materialistic, and appreciates what they have. No game-players. Enjoys shooting pool, games, sports, books. Politically moderate to conservative. Does not have to be extremely intelligent, but average or above. Someone who likes quiet romantic times. Kindness, patience, understanding also important. Patience and
I typically spend my leisure time
Played baseball and softball almost year-round most of my life. I enjoy competition. I like to shoot pool, play poker (no, I'm by no means a gambler), read, or just look for different ways to have fun. We all work hard, and it's important to be able to enjoy the rewards of that effort.
The most influential person in my life has been
Honesty and sincerity. No time for game players or manipulators with hidden agendas.
The first thing people notice about me
I'm usually not comfortable meeting new people. I think the first thing people notice, once I feel comfortable, might be a sense of humor, and an unusual level of sincerity.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Just finished a book called "the Last 100 Days" by John Toland. The book describes the last 100 days of World War II, and the interaction between Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin as they prepared for the conclusion of the war. I enjoyed the personal insights the author provided regarding the 3 main characters, as well as Hitler and his leaders. History is one of my favorite topics, along with the classics (1984, The Jungle, Atlas Shrugged) and crime novels (the investigative process intrigues me) Also enjoy anything that makes me laugh.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- mental and physical health
- knowing someone is there for me/acceptance
- mental ability to do many things well
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'll never make it as an actor. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Until people get to know me, they may not recognize the good heart that's inside.
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Funny, Intelligent, Sweet
A little more about me
I'm 5-9, about 180, brown hair, blue eyes. Originally from New York. Served 7 years with Coast Guard, moved to California in 1978. 54 years old. Complete idiot when it comes electrical or mechanical things, including computers. Passed MENSA testing on first try, but probably haven't applied those abilities as well as I could have. Have worked as Accounting Manager/Controller for past 20 years, primarily in food business. Looking for work right now, because of plant shutdown. Most often described as nice guy with plenty of integrity. Sorry for the bad pictures, but they're the most recent. Looks like I'm in pain. I'll change them soon.
