More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about connecting with people, sharing our joys and struggles, weaknesses and strengths. When we share a common feeling or experience and find understanding, I feel excited. If someone trusts me with a deep need or pain, I feel honored; if s/he understands what I feel or have experienced, I feel good. Expanding upon that, I enjoy learning about other cultures and different ways of perceiving the world.

I typically spend my leisure time

I really enjoy dancing. Lately, I've been doing "swing" and a little "cajun." I also like to listen to live music - not rock or rap, but other kinds of music. I like being outside too - tossing a football or baseball with my kids or a friend. I also read, and love art museums.

The most influential person in my life has been

I am looking for someone interested in growing self-awareness. I am increasingly aware of my own strengths and weaknesses, and would feel that my self-awareness is helping me move toward a more fulfilling life. It would be nice to share that journey with someone else.

The first thing people notice about me

I often remind people of someone they know - a cousin, friend, acquaintance. Usually it's a good connection. They probably then notice that I look them in the eye and pay close attention to them, if that is appropriate.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just finished Ellen J. Langer's MINDFULNESS. It was about the possibilities and power of living "mindfully," that is, more fully aware of one's context, possibilities, and subconscious assumptions. She does research with the elderly, showing how they thrive with more control and responsibility. Often, we feel frustrated with our perceived limited choices. Ellen urges expanded perceptions, so that we might perceive the possibilities and learnings as well as the limitations in life - to live life more fully and meaningfully.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. my three children
  2. my fulfilling job
  3. friends

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

There is really nothing.

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Caring, Genuine, Good listener

A little more about me

Physical touch is very important to me - holding hands, having our arms around each other, just touching your arm or shoulder. I want to be happy and live life to the fullest... In my job, I see that those who have lived well are most often able to die well. They are my inspiration.
