More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am the most passionate about friends, family and especially my daughter. I love to travel, read, write, hike, jog, and spend time with the people I most care about. I am passionate about liberal politics and the injustices in the world.

I typically spend my leisure time

I read whenever I can. While it very well might sound super-stereotypically corny, I take nature walks. Because of the great vacations I have as a teacher, I travel whenever that leisure time comes in a chunk- this is less true since my daughter came home. Family and friends occupy what is left of my leisure time. I also enjoy all types of movies- the independent types to the Hangover and everything in between. I'm not a huge TV fan, but neither am I a 'kill your tv' type snob.

The most influential person in my life has been

I am looking for someone who is independent and respects my independence. A sense of humor is extremely important to me. A defining and active factor in his life should be his kindness.

The first thing people notice about me

To be honest, the thing people probably notice first about me is my strong sense of irony and/or sarcasm.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I've just finished Henning Mankell's "The White Lioness" and Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". Mankell's books are always interesting in that dreary-Swedish-police officer sort of way. "P & P & Z" was fun, largely to reread the best parts of Austin.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The health and love of my daughter and family.
  2. My own health and good fortune.
  3. The loyalty of my friends.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm not sure I spend much time wondering about people's perceptions of me or wishing they were one thing or another.

A little more about me

I adopted my daughter from Ethiopia 3 years ago. She is the absolute coolest thing ever.
