More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about enjoying the outdoors. During the winter months, I love to ski. I love the squeaking sound that the snow makes underfoot when I'm heading toward the chairlift. It's as if the snow is sharing the excited anticipation with me! When I have a good run - when everything is in synch - it's a dance with the mountain. A soak in the hot tub at the end of the day is nice too. When the snow melts, I like to paddle on it. I enjoy both kayaking and canoeing (stern left.)

I typically spend my leisure time

Lately I've spent most of my leasure time packing and unpacking as I have just moved. I have more hobbies than time to enjoy them but some of my favorite indoor hobbies are quilting/fiber arts, reading and cooking. My outdoor favorites are skiing, canoeing/kayaing and hiking.

The most influential person in my life has been

That he be a person of strong character. It's far easier to fall in love with someone whom you respect.

The first thing people notice about me

That I'm self-assured. An unavoidable side-effect of being in the corporate world for so long.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Modern Irish Writings - Edited by Grattan Frayer. I ready this book while on a study abroad course in college and found it while packing for my recent move. Re-reading it brought back many memories of the trip but more importantly, I enjoyed reading it for pleasure rather than as required reading for a course. The selection of short stories, poetry and plays are diverse and provide a great overview of the tone and common themes of Irish authors. I'm currently reading Gilead by Marilynn Robinson - slow reading but thus far worth the time invested.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I'm thankful for my family - they're awesome!
  2. I'm also thankful for my friends - they keep life interesting.
  3. And for my health.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Adults don't often notice the softer side of my personality but children and animals seem to pick up on it quickly.

Friends Describe me as

Articulate, Creative, Genuine, Intelligent
