More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Education and animals.

I typically spend my leisure time

I like reading many different things, from essays and fiction to long, informative articles. I'm interested in medicine, but only from a layman's perspective, and I particularly like Gerome Groopman and Atul Gawande. I also like watching movies and hanging out with (or walking) my dogs. I REALLY like having large chunks of time free, which is often a rare occurrence for me. I love knowing that I have an entire evening free with which to do whatever I want. An entire day off is even more rare, which is why I appreciate them so much.

The most influential person in my life has been

Compassion. I'm looking for someone who knows how to put himself in someone else's shoes, someone who's not quick to judge, someone who looks for the good in other people.

The first thing people notice about me

Probably my wit.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I read a TON and very little of it is for pleasure. Two books that I have read for pleasure in the last couple of months are Tell Me Where it Hurts: A Day of Humor, Healing, and Hope in My Life as an Animal Surgeon--not great, but I did enjoy it; The Lovely Bones: I know, I'm the last one in the world to read this novel, which was pure mind candy. I forgot about everything in my life for a whole day.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My health
  2. My friends
  3. My dogs

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That underneath my shy exterior I'm pretty soft. I can't count the number of times my shyness has been mistaken for pretension, leading to the later confession: "Oh my God--when I first met you I thought you were such a snob, but now you're one of my favorite people."

Friends Describe me as

Funny, Hard Working, Intelligent, Perceptive

A little more about me

I would never date a man who doesn't like dogs.
