The one thing I am passionate about...
Life? Is that cliche? I am passionate about my family, and helping the community in which I live. I have also trained martial arts for a significant part of my life, and I would say that is a passion of mine. I love to learn, I love helping other people and really helping others have a good time. I taught for many years (first as a ski and snowboard instructor and then as a school social worker) and I miss that immensely!
I typically spend my leisure time
Well, lately I have begun organizing social events for all of my friends - this is kind of a new thing for me, but it seems to be working out pretty well. I also started a kickball team, which is a ton of fun! Other than that I spend a lot of my personal time training jiu jitsu, biking, and spending time with my dog, the notorious Addie P (my dog) and volunteering for various charities. I recently took on a leadership role in helping raise money for St. Jude's childrens hospital and am pretty excited about that!
The most influential person in my life has been
Wow, people are so complex it is impossible to say that there is just one quality - but aside from the regular affectionate, caring, compassionate, intelligent, witty, physically active, etc., I think understanding (is that even a quality??) or accepting is definitely near the top of my list.
The first thing people notice about me
Hmm - I guess it depends on the situation. I hope they notice that I'm hilarious (or at least modestly funny) and that I like to get along with people. No seriously, I think people notice that I am easy to talk to about just about anything.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Right now I am reading "The Good Life" - it was a gift from my grandfather written by Nixon's political advisor who went to prison, and then started an amazing prison ministry program . . . before that?? It's a little embarrassing! I actually was a literature major and used to read all the time . . . law school kind of killed that for me :( The last novel I read was called Sick Puppy (don't even remember the author) - but it was kind of an environmental comedy. Fun, easy read. Favorite books of all time would either be All the Kings Men, The Brothers Karamazov, The Sun Also Rises, or Love in the Time of Cholera.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family. There are no words to describe how thankful I am for them.
- The many people I have met along the way who have helped me survive and succeed.
- God's grace.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I guess people often miss the fact that although I seem very outgoing and social, I really do appreciate and need the quiet times too.
Friends Describe me as
Intelligent, Perceptive, Physically Fit, Thoughtful
A little more about me
There's probably a lot I would like you to know! Kind of hard to type it into this tiny box though :)
