The one thing I am passionate about...
I am a history major and love discussing that. I generally tend to avoid political discussions unless I am very passionate about the issue. Because I want to become a civil rights attorney one day, I am very passionate about issues such as Affirmative Action and similar topics. I love music, movies, and sports and can talk in great length about any of those subjects. I like to know a little bit about a lot of subjects because it gives me that ability to hold a conversation with a wide variety of people.
I typically spend my leisure time
I love movies, but I really dislike movie theatres. Because I like movies that have an effect on me (emotionally, intelectually), I feel uncomfortable watching them in a public setting. I would much rather watch at home in private or with a small number of others. I like going out, but I generally don't like dance clubs or crowded establishments. I tend to become claustrophobic around large groups of people. I would much rather meet a few friends at a comfortable bar with which I'm familiar. I love travelling and do so whenever it's feasible, time-wise or financially.
The most influential person in my life has been
Someone who can hold a conversation without trying to dominate. I have a wide range of interests and want someone who with that quality as well. Also, while I don't want someone who is naive, I find a degree of innocence attractive in a woman. In other words, someone who has a love of life and is trusting of others as opposed to someon who is bitter and world-weary.
The first thing people notice about me
I seem very introverted and shy at first. Some people may find this quality in me mysterious and interesting, some may find it uninteresting and boring. I tend to take a little while to open up and become comfortable around other people, though.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I love history, mostly turn of the century US History. I recently read a book for a class called about the 1921 Tulsa race riot written by Alfred Brophy. Brophy made a very compelling argument that the local and state governments and police forces were instrumental in the destruction caused in the African American section of Tulsa and he also made a strong case that families of those victims should receive some sort of monetary reompense.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family who will help me no matter what.
- The fact that I've discovered what I want to do with my life.
- My ability to succeed in school and life.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
That I am very passionate about the things I love. Although I am usually nervous when meeting someone for the first time, I can talk for hours about many things.
Friends Describe me as
Ambitious, Articulate, Intelligent, Passionate
A little more about me
I am on this site mostly out of curiosity. There was a time even as recently as a year ago when I was adamant about being single. Now, I am more open to meeting someone. However, I am a bit apprehensive about starting a serious relationship right now because I won't be in the area much longer. Once I graduate, I want to go to the best law school that accepts my application no matter where it is located. I fear a serious relationship would affect that decision.
