More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about my job...that is, I work in a field where I get to use technology to hopefully make people's jobs better. I work in government so I'm sometimes surrounded by politicians who argue over what will help society but I'm convinced that technology has the power to solve a lot (but not all) of the world's problems.I also like watching most sports: Ravens and Capitals then Orioles. Sometimes I'll catch a Wizards or DC United game on TV. I get a lot more emotional over the outcome of games than I probably should.

I typically spend my leisure time

It depends. Sometimes work is so stressful (I work in IT...it's part of the job) that I like to go home and vegetate. Sometimes I have to take a day off here and there to work on school stuff (I'm working on a Ph.D. part time, which means very slowly). My friends are mostly married with kids which means they don't really have the time to hang out with me. That's where you come in. I'm a big fan of simple things like mini-golf, bowling. small hikes or walks through a park..easy things that can be done in a day. It's been a while since I've been to a museum (other than the annual family trips I go on) around here.

The most influential person in my life has been

Ultimately someone to do things with. As I've gotten older and my friends have families of their own I don't get the chance to do a few things I used to do. That's where you come in.Someone to talk to after a rough day at work. Someone to talk to after a great day at work. Someone to tell me when I'm full of it and someone to support me when I'm not. Someone to help me pick a tie when I have to go to a formal event, because when it comes to formal fashion I have no idea what I'm doing.

The first thing people notice about me

It really depends on the situation. People are multi-faceted and I think first impressions depend on context. I'd say I usually come off as somewhat intellectual to people. When I'm meeting strangers I tend to crack a lame joke or two.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I haven't had much of a chance to read an actual book lately...I've been focused on reading journal papers for school. I will say that my favorite book, ever, is "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow. Hamilton's always been my favorite founding father (years before the musical) and the book is a page turner...which is weird since it's a historical book.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I have an incredibly stable government job where I have a lot of freedom to do "cool" things.
  2. I have a handful of incredibly close friends.
  3. That, despite all of the vitriol you see out there, society manages to stay in one piece.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I tend to surprise people if they take the chance to get to know me. I realize I come off as kind of nerdy-looking, and trust me, I am (nerdy about many things). However, I also tend to get a lot of, "Looking at you, I wouldn't think....". People tend to assume that people who listen to heavy metal (for example) have tons of tattoos and a dozen piercings in their face, but I look pretty straight-edge. Okay, I do have one tattoo, but it's fairly basic and hidden.

Friends Describe me as

Creative, Intelligent, Loyal, Optimistic

A little more about me

When people say, What do you want in a relationship I think most men have very simple needs. We won't say it like this, but in the end we want the same emotional, intellectual and physical intimacy that you want.I also want to clarify the religion part. I was raised Catholic but I wouldn't say I'm a regular churchgoer and the Pope and I probably don't agree on everything. So if you're VERY religious I might not be a good match.

I am
Somewhat Liberal
