The one thing I am passionate about...
On an interest level I am passionate about writing, reading (even reading aloud and being read to), discovering and exploring new places, putting together ideas and speculating about puzzles and mysteries, exploring English history and most things English, completing my current novel and getting it published. I'm also passionate (feisty even) about the fair and just treatment of all people, and the current political climate. Music, being quoted a sonnet or romantic soliloquy (Shakespeare's Henry V to Katherine, for instance), and English and French accents. In sum: I'm wiser than I was at 20, but I still enjoy being a romantic idealist at 39.
I typically spend my leisure time
Sharing conversation about books, writing, movies, and travel with friends is ideal. I enjoy smaller groups of people so the conversation about topics can be deeper and in a certain sense more genuine. My friends tend to be writers, role players, actors, and creative types. So, engaging in our favorite activities together or talking about them is easy. We get together to write, watch a movie, or have a pot luck over which we laugh and argue about the merits of a new book. We all pretty much share the floor equally and support one another creatively. Being surrounded by good friends sharing what we love is the best cup of comfort I know.
The most influential person in my life has been
Loyalty is very important to me, as are honestly and kindness.
The first thing people notice about me
My friends say I seem friendly, if a tad nervous. My goal in any case to make people I meet feel genuinely welcome.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Maria V. Snyder's POISON STUDY (first in a three book series) is the book I've enjoyed the most in a long while, but it's not the last book I read and enjoyed. I enjoyed Maria's world building, in depth protagonist, and ability to take an age-old story and come at it from a unique angle. The book is about the adventures and trials that befall a woman who takes a job as a poison taster in exchange for the sparing of her life.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- The people closest to me: my mother and friends.
- My ability to write.
- My ability to see beauty and humor in many things and people.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'm not sure there's much I wish people would notice about me personally. Perhaps I wish "writer" were stamped on my forehead and that everyone suddenly had a burning desire to know all about the world I created for my most recent novel.
Friends Describe me as
Loyal, Passionate, Perceptive, Romantic
A little more about me
I am recently divorced and am in the first stages of peering around the corners at new relationships. I'm much more apt to respond to overtures of friendship at this point than romance. I am looking for people who are creative, fun, preferably enjoy writing, and who don't mind that I might not be ready to engage in a committed or even romantic relationship. If things went along comfortably in that direction I would not shy away. However, I believe I should be up-front about my current situation so as not to put out false signals.
