More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about many social causes and national politics but also things like great food and music. My tastes run the gamut, from The New York Times to the Onion, Bach to Fergie, for instance. I tend to gravitate toward people who have the capacity to get excited about things, who are similarly passionate about being informed about the world and having some core beliefs, even if they are different from mine.

I typically spend my leisure time

If I have an extended amount of time off, I'm probably going to make a trip to some new place where I can enjoy a certain amount of relaxation while still having an adventure. Near or far.On a typical weekend, I'll work out in the gym at least once, sit in a cafe and read a bit, go on a bike ride if the weather permits, and meet friends for drinks or dinner. I might also try to find a new gallery opening or live music performance. I'm partial to jazz, rock and blues.I also like to cook (and eat!) Cajun seafood and Creole gumbo. My roots are in Louisiana...

The most influential person in my life has been

Most of my friends have three things in common: good humor, patience and loyalty. Those are the things I value most.

The first thing people notice about me

People are usually surprised by how good a listener I am, how I am able to zone out the noise of the world and focus on the present moment.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Michael Pollan's "Omnivore's Dilemma" was a fantastic read, and typical of the kind of sweeping non-fiction narratives that I like. It was a masterful and beautifully written mix of world history, agriculture, national politics, and compelling human interest stories. Perfect! Right now I'm reading "Sin in the Second City."

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. my parents and siblings
  2. my natural talents
  3. my health

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I can play a mean jazz on the flute.

Friends Describe me as
