The one thing I am passionate about...
I love to write. Poetry, short stories, nonfiction, research reports are all great fun. Ironically, I have been having some trouble actually sitting down to actually put my thoughts on paper. I love my son more than anything. Watching him grow up is an incredible gift. He has reminded me of a time when in my own childhood, I marveled with innocence about everything in the world. Finally, I am passionate about this country. Regardless of one's political ideology, I think people often take for granted that they live somwhere that imparts unparralleled opportunities and personal liberties.
I typically spend my leisure time
Between raising a three year-old as a single father, earing a doctorate degree, and work, I don't have much lesiure time. I love stimulating conversation, relaxing at home, and exercising when I get the chance. I love going to art galleries, museums, aquariums, and other events for family activities. I also love to SCUBA dive, although that is pretty tough to do in Arizona.
The most influential person in my life has been
I am looking for someone who is NICE. Finding someone that is truly a nice person in today's world is very challenging. People frequently seem to have an ulterior motives, or act in vindictive ways. I want to meet someone that is a genuinely caring, warm and outgoing person. A smile and kind words go a long ways in my book.
The first thing people notice about me
I am invisible to most other people. They rarely notice me. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you are trying to find someone to go out with.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I'll stick with fiction on this question, because most of the non-fiction books I read don't really qualify as enjoyable. I am a big fan of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series. King started writing these books back in the 70s. The storyline is an epic fantasy/sci-fi tale about a chivalrous gunslinger's quest to discover the ultimate source of knowledge and save the universe in the process. I loved how King tied most of his other major novels (It, The Stand, Hearts in Atlantis, Salem's Lot, etc.) into the series in critical ways.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My son. He lights up my world and fills me with hope for the future.
- My Family. They have shwon much patience, love, and support throughout the years.
- My Country. I am grateful for the opportunities and prosperity I have enjoeyd so far.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Sometimes people think I am cold or aloof, when actually I am just trying to be an attentive listener. I like hearing other people's stories and like to listen to what others have to say. I am loyal to a fault.
