More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about my walk with the Lord. I have found that if I am walking close to Him, pressing in close to Him, my life is full and it spills over into everything else I do. The way my time alone with Him goes in the morning; so goes my day. Years ago John 15:5 became a life verse for me. I am looking for a woman who shares my passion and who I can encourage to reach her full potential in Christ and who will do the same for me. My church background is with the Independent Christian/Churches of Christ. I have pastored churches full time and now part-time. I have loved ministry and I expect to return to full time ministry in God's time.

I typically spend my leisure time

Tennis. I played in HS and have played in friendly doubles leagues. I don't play in competition tournaments but I enjoy playing to win. Gardening. I've done a fair amount of "edible" landscaping around the house. I have tried to raise vegetables that also have an aesthetic appeal.Reading. I read mostly non-fiction but I have enjoyed The Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia.Movies. I usually watch snatches of movies when I am working out doing an aerobic routine. Favorites include: Lord of the Rings; Without a Clue; While You Were Sleeping; Princess Bride.

The most influential person in my life has been

I am looking for a woman who shares my passion for the Lord. If it is real, I beieve she will be a balanced person who enjoys people and life. She will have practical sense. Loving and being loved will come naturally to her.

The first thing people notice about me

Abraham Lincoln said that after age 40 a man is responsible for his face. People have noticed that I smile. I find it communicates warmth and acceptance. I find it opens a lot of doors with people.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Fun Read: "Marley and Me." The story of the world's worst dog. I don't have any pets but I laughed out loud at this incorrigible dog! The author also had keen reflective insight into the stages of life. Fun read.Non-Fiction: "Why Men Hate to Go to Church." I grew up in the church so the wimpy way we "do church" that turns off men became obvious to me. I am tired of being "nice." I want to learn to be dangerous.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My life in Christ. My walk through life is as good as my walk with Him. It has been great!
  2. My family of origin. I was given a solid foundation and our relationships have continued to grow.
  3. God's strength through struggles. I was not only able to survive but to thrive.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

In conversations people have referred to me as "skinny." I tell them that we skinny people prefer to think of it as, "wiry." I know it's lame but I couldn't think of answers for this question!

Friends Describe me as

Dependable, Funny, Good listener, Spiritual

A little more about me

I have three adult children in their twenties who live 3 hours away...I was in church ministry for all but my last 7 years. I now drive city bus for a living and preach at a small church on Sundays. Driving has been an education for me. My passengers have opened my eyes to a subculture of needy people. Even the mechanics out in the garage have been an education for me. I've told the mechanics that every time I go out to the garage I learn something new from them. I can't repeat it anywhere but it is an education!
