The one thing I am passionate about...
My relationship with my God defines me. I have been given a new calling and a new challenge this year with medical school. I love it, but it is tough, and I am learning to trust Him more and to trust that His presence and promises are enough. I am very thankful for God's blessings of close friendships, family, opportunity, and talent. On a day-to-day basis, I work really hard at what I do, but I also try to maintain balance. I hang out with my friends and family as much as I can. Also, now that the weather is improving, I am getting out on my road bike more often, preparing for summer cycling races and triathlons!
I typically spend my leisure time
For the past few years I have been into cycling. I ride with a group of guys, and we train for a one-day ride across Indiana in mid-July. I also enjoy running, and a friend from college and I do a few road races and triathlons every summer in Michigan. I also really enjoy hiking. Every summer we take a group of family and friends down to the Smokey Mountains to hike, camp, run from bears, jump off waterfalls, etc. In the summer, I like to golf. Several times every year, my best friends from college and I get together to hang out for a weekend in a new city. It is important to me to make time to have fun and hang out with friends.
The most influential person in my life has been
Most importantly, I am looking for a woman who knows and pursues God above all else. I am also looking for what my Dad calls a "foxhole woman," a woman who will stick by my side as a supportive and thoughtful mate. Finally, I am looking for someone who has a sense of humor. I laugh all the time, and I love to have spontaneous fun. I would love to share and build my life with this kind of woman.
The first thing people notice about me
People usually notice that I am intelligent and well-spoken.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I read "Wild at Heart" by John Eldredge. It is the most informative, powerful, and important book that I have ever read. Largely as a result of this book (along with lots of prayer, conversations, and journaling), I realize who I am created to be. As a man, I am to be strong and valiant, giving myself for others. I do not go to a woman for validation, but I go to God. I come into a relationship to give my strength and to fight seriously for her heart. God has blessed me by showing me who I really am and that he delights in me as his son. I know who I am, and I know that it is God who leads me forward.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My encouraging and supportive relationship with my family.
- My closest friends and the fun, encouragement, and intimacy that we share.
- God's presence, guidance, and sustaining love.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Fun and social situations bring me to life, and when people hear that I am a medical student, they assume that I prefer to be a bookworm.
