More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about where this country is going and preserving the values and institutions that make it great. In particular, I have a soft spot for our 'wounded warriors,' and donate my time/money to charities dedicated to supporting them and their families.

I typically spend my leisure time

I try to work out at least 5 days a week, and nothing relaxes me more than a morning run on a weekend followed by sitting outside with a big cup of coffee and something awesome to read. I love any kind of outdoor adventure: camping, hiking, kayaking, tubing, target shooting, swimming, etc. I love going to country concerts, because it's a great excuse for me to rock my cowboy boots (I have 3 pairs). And I'm a big foodie: I love good food, good beer, and good wine, and I'm always game to visit a new restaurant, brewery, or winery.

The most influential person in my life has been

The most important quality I am looking for in another person is a similar worldview. When you look at things the same way and have a similar outlook on life, a lot of other things just seem to fall into place.

The first thing people notice about me

Probably that I am pretty gregarious and outgoing. I never meet a stranger. ;)

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read and enjoyed was probably Freakonomics. I like that it makes economics accessible, relevant, and entertaining by applying economic theory to real-world questions, like, "Why do people do what they do?" It's pretty fascinating how incentives, environment, and culture can affect people's behavior, and in aggregate, create patterns, trends, and movements.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My parents, brother, and sisters. I never laugh harder than when I am with them.
  2. My close friends, who I can always count to be in my corner and always tell me the truth.
  3. My health, and the ability to do anything physically that I put my mind to.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

People who first meet me in professional situations tell me I can come off as tough and no-nonsense, which sometimes intimidates people. But outside of that context I'm normally boisterous, silly, nerdy, and unpretentious.

Friends Describe me as

Genuine, Intelligent, Loyal, Outgoing

A little more about me

I'm a big fan of "fun" and am pretty good at making my own when there isn't any - at any given time I'm likely to start a snowball fight or crack a raunchy joke in polite company.. Oh, and full disclosure: I have been known to geek out on a few things, like Game of Thrones and Battlestar Galactica. ...I know.
