More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Family, gardening, conservation and environmental issues(esp. preservation of bio-diversity), education, children, nature, life-long learning, travel.

I typically spend my leisure time

I am outdoors as often as possible. I love to hike and have just started kayaking. I get my hands in the soil on a regular basis - gardening is a muse. As a science teacher, I don't have much free time at this point during the school year, but when I can give myself permission to disengage from my work for a morning or an afternoon on the weekends, I enjoy taking care of my home, listening to NPR as I putter about. I love classical, folk and Irish music. Good movies are a treat. Summers are for exploring, hiking and for living life at a more reasonable cadence.

The most influential person in my life has been

A well grounded and centered sense of self. A kind and compassionate heart. A desire to find a life partner and a willingness to go about it in a sensible way. A deep open-minded curiosity. A conservationists love of the outdoors.

The first thing people notice about me

I am a bit shy and can be a bit introverted by nature. However most think I am very out-going.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The World Without Us. Intriguing and clever. I am currently reading E.O. Wilson's 'Consilience'... it is the best book I have read in years. Voluntary Simplicity, by Duane Elgin

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family
  2. My connection to nature.
  3. This amazing life - not a day goes by that I am not thankful for all life brings. What a gift we have been given!

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I am deeply loyal.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Hard Working, Kind, Optimistic

A little more about me

Putting myself "out-there" like this is not something you would expect me to do if you knew me. I am a very private person, but I do believe that this method of "sifting and sorting" based on personality algorithms makes sense. All in all my life is really quite nice, but I miss sharing both the simple things and the intricacies with a good friend/partner. Life shared is more than doubly enriched.
