More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Probably teaching. It's a conduit to many of my values like fairness and truth and comedy. Aside from this I have a deep reservoir of passion that is generally undirected. This is the introversion talking. I'm a huge fan of the introversion. I'll take an interest in anyone or anything except sports. I couldn't care less about sports and believe me I've tried.

I typically spend my leisure time

I've been playing computer games in some form or other since I was maybe 7. If you played Hunt the Wumpus back in the day, we need to talk. I like to read and watch TV/movies. Sometimes I will binge on cooking. I like the idea of exercise but the motivation comes and goes too much for me to say it's typical.

The most influential person in my life has been

Whatever the opposite of apathy is. Empathy? Sympathy? Engagement with life? I think it's engagement with life. I have an overabundance of empathy, so it's easier to relate if you're a big softie too. Also eating meat is a dealbreaker. I don't ask people to change for me.

The first thing people notice about me

I'm pretty funny.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Reign of Error by Diane Ravitch is a series of strongly supported arguments against the current direction of corporate education reform. She follows up with strongly supported proposals for what would really help children living in poverty, which is where the crisis in education truly lies. Before that it was Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. my parents - I appreciate them more and more over time
  2. finding a satisfying career without much actual searching - more luck
  3. a great memory - just lucky that way

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm super nice. Not as in being everyone's doormat but I like doing things to help people.
