More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Good conversation. The less small talk the better. New ideas, what if scenarios, trying to understand why things are the way they are. Making people laugh - wit, jokes, teasing, wordplay, looking at things from a different angle.

I typically spend my leisure time

Listening to music, watching animation (anime and cartoons), playing video games both single player and cooperative, occasionally running, riding a motorcycle, shooting pool, drinking beer on a barstool, reading on barstool, conversing on a barstool, visiting old friends that live in other cities/state, thinking of things to write for my dusty old blog idlewit, recording amateur covers of songs I like and posting them on soundcloud where they are rarely played.

The most influential person in my life has been

Sense of humour. Believes in loyalty and honesty. Can tolerate mood swings. Likes to be spontaneous. Likes to play video games.Likes to be a homebody sometimes.

The first thing people notice about me

I'm a good listener. I'm edgy. I'm an iconoclast. I try to be a good person (an abstract ideal) and I like people who seem good too. If you can make me laugh I enjoy your company. I need to lose about 30 pounds. Unless you're into the whole dad bod thing.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The Queen's Gambit by Walter Tevis.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My good friends from my hometown.
  2. My wits, I'm glad I've kept them about me.
  3. Numerous varieties of delicious beer, which I will never succeed in tasting all of.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm an introvert and sometimes a loner. I'm fun to invite along but rarely the one to make the invitation. I enjoy interacting with people regularly, but when I've had my fill I retreat to solitude. I think I'm charming but it wears me out. I prefer being in a small group or one-on-one, as opposed to being in a large group. Once I know someone well enough and trust them, I'll drop the charming routine and say exactly what's on my mind, I think honesty is the sincerest form of respect. My trust is hard to gain.

Friends Describe me as

Easy-Going, Funny, Intelligent, Spontaneous

A little more about me

Marriage of 6 years (relationship 10 years) eroded, I ignored my problems with depression, wife fell out of love. We were very close to starting a family, then she miscarried, then she had an affair with her boss, then I was written off as a brother instead of a lover, and my offer of forgiveness was declined. I really loved her a lot but I guess it was too late and she had been pretending for a long time. I think I'll date again soon (separated for 16 months) but I kind of don't remember how it works. I fantasize about getting in really good shape and letting the women throw themselves at me, but I eat too much and exercise too little.

I am
Somewhat Liberal
