The one thing I am passionate about...
I think it depends on if one answers in terms of ideas/concepts or activities. I love to be outside, I love to improve things...home, garden, my surroundings, though I don't have as much time as I'd like. It's important to me to experience things with which I am not necessarily familiar. I think it's the only way to grow as a person. Travel is important to me, as (again) I think it's important to realize how large and beautiful the world truly is, and how amazing it is that so many people can lead so many different kinds of lives and be happy.
I typically spend my leisure time
One of my favorite things is to rent a little sailboat, preferably in the fall. I love being on water and seeing the leaves. I also like driving to random destinations just to listen to music, talk, and enjoy the scenery as I go...if I can, I try to make at least a day trip if not a weekend out of it (not the driving part...the destination part!)...I love simple things...really great movies, a conversation that, when over, makes you say "It's not THAT late, is it?", once in a blue moon dressing up for an evening out, wandering around the city and finding an out of the way bar/rest., and fires in the winter with wine, a soft blanket, book.
The most influential person in my life has been
Most important? One? I'm going to cheat and probably list more than that. Self-confidence without arrogance. That something that people just emanate when they're in reasonably good control of their lives. I also appreciate someone who is thoughtful and remembers that there are two people in a relationship. On a lighter note, please, please, please, someone who likes to laugh and is positive!
The first thing people notice about me
I would say the fact that I always want people to feel comfortable. I was raised believing that class wasn't about money...it's about making everyone around you comfortable, no matter what your station or theirs in life.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Unfortunately, the last book I read drove me crazy because it was about a young girl trying to unravel the mystery of how her brother had died and in the end, you never find out! I love Flannery O'Connor and would have to say the best book I've read in a while was The Lovely Bones. Due to time constraints, I tend to stick to short stories. (Current events periodicals is a given...)
The three things which I am most thankful for
- my family - parents and kids
- my intelligence
- a good relationship with my ex-husband - critical for my children
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
People tend to come to me for advice a lot and seem to not realize that maybe sometimes I could use advice, too. That, and no, just because a girl is pretty doesn't automatically mean she has a boyfriend!
Friends Describe me as
Good listener, Intelligent, Loyal, Passionate
A little more about me
The main reason I don't have a photo is because I'm extremely camera shy...I know, I know...not good in terms of this stuff... It's very rare that I allow my picture to be taken, but it has absolutely nothing to do with how I look. If it winds up becoming necessary, I'll see if I can borrow a camera from someone!
