More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about my children and grandchildren. Actually I am passionate about all my relationships. Love is the only thing you can take with you, the stuff stays behind. I am passionate about my faith, trying to understand the meaning of the Incarnation in the modern world. I try to take what each day, each moment gives me and be in that moment.

I typically spend my leisure time

Hanging out with family and friends. Cooking "from scratch", especially bread and soup. Singing with friends. Reading. Love crosswords and Trivial Pursuit. Pitching horseshoes. Rooting for the Yankees and Huskies.

The most influential person in my life has been

Integrity - Without integrity and honesty there can be no basis for any kind of meaningful relationship. A sense of humor - Life is weird and we're all pretty much winging it. If you can't laugh I don't know how you survive. Independence - I'm looking for a partner, not a dependent.

The first thing people notice about me

Probably that I'm friendly and outgoing and enjoy meeting and talking with new people.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I am a voracious reader and read all kinds of things. The New York Times everyday; many magazinesevery month. I have two books going right now: "Garlic and Saphires" by Ruth Reichl and " In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan. I'll read anything from mind candy like Ludlum or Grisham to Homer's Iliad. (Speaking of Homer, I also believe that "The Simpsons" is among the most intelligent shows on TV.)

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My faith in God.
  2. My children and grandchildren.
  3. My network of family and friends.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That I look just like Robert Redford??

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Articulate, Funny, Spiritual

A little more about me

Although I think it would be more fun for you to find out for yourself, there are two things I would like you to know. 1. I am a widower. Seven years ago I lost my best friend of 28 years and the love of my life. It has been a struggle to regain my balance. (Thank God for grandchildren!) 2. Faith may move mountains, but it hasn't moved any of my excess weight, so I have decided to have gastric bypass surgery. I expect to have the surgery around October 2009. Wish me luck!
