The one thing I am passionate about...
Honestly, I'd have to say that I'm most passionate about my teaching career. 2009 marks the 6th year I've been with my District and within that time I've grown to understand and come to the conclusion that only truly effective teachers are passionate about their content area. I'm also fairly passionate about spending quality time with friends and family--as they are the most important people in my life.
I typically spend my leisure time
I enjoy camping, boating and jet skiing at different California lakes or to the Colorado River. I usually travel to Laughlin, Nevada during late spring and summer time to enjoy much well deserved time off. I'd like to do one more trip before the end of the year! I also like to spend time at home relaxing or poolside getting some sun and swimming.
The most influential person in my life has been
Trustworthiness... by far the number one quality that I look for right off the bat in any woman I would even consider dating. Honesty and integrity are also very important qualities. And... it doesn't hurt if she's easy to get along with, has a nice smile, and is generally a positive, see's the glass "half full instead of half empty" type of person.
The first thing people notice about me
Honestly, I haven't thought to ask anyone that question. If I had to guess, I imagine they probably would notice that I [sometimes] have a goatee and that I'm pretty easy going.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I am currently reading "How To Teach Students Who Don't Look Like You." It's a book designed for Teachers by a teacher that illustrates culturally relevant teaching strategies and is an on-going part of this year's Professional Development program at my school.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- The ability to work and live in the same community... no commuting.
- Being an American and for all the opportunity our country has to offer.
- The good fortune of having a well balanced, functional family who loves each other.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'll have to think about this one...
Friends Describe me as
Easy-Going, Hard Working, Intelligent, Loyal
A little more about me
As a teacher, I'm very fortunate to work in the same town where I live and have a fairly predictable, albeit busy schedule. I don't believe in rushing anything, especially into a relationship. I always MAKE the time for that special someone. I've never been married or engaged and don't have any children. I've owned my home for going on 10 years now, have a stable, secure career, and am looking for the right woman to compliment--not complete--me as I would like to do for her.
