More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

At present, I am the most passionate about progressive politics, in social, economic, environmental, and international issues. I want to build a world where there is opportunity for everybody, no matter what family a person was born into --- I believe we must develop a sustainable way of living -- both in terms of economics and our natural environment, in order to survive as a people and as a planet. I think we owe it to the next generation to leave the world in better shape than it was in when we received it from our parents and grandparents.

I typically spend my leisure time

Long, deep, genuine conversations with people.Long outdoor walks, in all kinds of weather, preferably with a friend.Listening to folk, country, and blues --- I like music, live or recorded.Gardening and growing things !!!!!I am not a "sports nut", but I do enjoy a hockey or football game.

The most influential person in my life has been

Ability and willingness to communicate his thoughts and feelings, in a way that builds up not only him but me and the people around us. I want a true partner who shares my values and who will work with me side by side to turn our shared values into on-the-ground reality.

The first thing people notice about me

The fact that I am seldom, if ever, without words.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The most meaningful book for me at this time in my life would be Compassionate Communication, the Language of Life, by Marshall Rosenberg. This book has helped me learn to communicate without constantly judging and evaluating other people. I've put the ideas in this book to work to work in my professional and personal life, and it has genuinely helped me see what people are really trying to say, and has turned a number of tense situations into productive conversations.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My loving mother and sister
  2. My career in environmental science
  3. Opportunities for political involvement --- working in tangible ways to improve the lives of others, in both short and long time frames

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I wish people could see that, in addition to my organizational skills and willingness to speak up, I do have a tender spirit and lots of love inside of me.

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Articulate, Caring, Energetic

A little more about me

While I am very extroverted, I need time to be alone and quiet, daily time to pray, meditate and refuel my spirit, mind and body.
