More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Discovering something I know nothing about but find an attraction to; I like to be surprised. If something comes along that evokes my curiosity, interest, intellect and emotions, I will engage and expand myself. Ideas can excite me if they are grounded with information and thoughtfulness, not simply opinions. Good art- literature, music, drama- excites me. I love being a fan, and I have my favorite teams- baseball especially.

I typically spend my leisure time

Thinking about things.... reading (books, NY Times, New Yorker), keeping in touch with friends, enjoying playoff games, going off for a weekend somewhere, making soup, going to the gym, hiking with a pal, catching a movie, a play, a symphony. Politics at the moment.

The most influential person in my life has been

An intelligent man who has loved and been loved thoroughly.

The first thing people notice about me

I am direct, friendly, calm, grounded and fun; someone comfortable with herself.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Middlemarch, a novel for grown-ups. I enjoyed it because Eliot's capacity to draw a character whose complexities determine his or her fateful suffering is pitch perfect. I am still worrying about some of those people. I had to confront my own egoistic blindness in the reactions I had to some of them. A remarkable book.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The love I experience through my family and friendships.
  2. The fulfillment and meaning I receive through my professional life.
  3. Life's good fortune that has been granted to me, and the fact that I've lived it.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

How irreverent and silly I can be, or how serious I am. Paradox? Not necessarily.

Friends Describe me as

Dependable, Genuine, Perceptive, Thoughtful

A little more about me

After 25 years of a good marriage, I lost my husband to cancer six years ago. Presently life is fulfilling in terms of work, friends, interests, but I like men. I miss the aliveness that naturally occurs for me when I am fully engaged with someone. So, here I am exploring this avenue; we'll see.
