More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I strive to be honest with myself and others, and to keep my life in balance in all things. I value my relationship with my other family members and their trust and love. I love the wilderness around us and when I get around to it, am always glad for outings that I go on. Hiking, Climbing, Fly-fishing, any good excuse to get up in the hills or out to the shores. I have become a fairly avid cyclist, but try not to be too preachy about it with others...but I would love an enthusiastic companion for the occasional long ride. I believe in leading by example and learning from the example of others (although I don't always admit to that part).

I typically spend my leisure time

Reading is certainly up there. I really have a lot of interests that I dabble in for fun - During bad weather, I like music and card games, playing music (pretty badly) For outdoors, roughly in order: bicycling, fishing, camping, hiking, climbing, and skiing. Up to about 10 years ago, I played basketball at least twice a week year round, but my knees rebelled so I've pretty much switched to bike riding these days. Finally I like live- music, drama, or comedy once in a while any season. Family get togethers are a soul-renewing prescription for me

The most influential person in my life has been

Their ability to feel emotionally safe with me and help me feel safe with them. I'm not sure if this is "chemistry" but it is what I seek.

The first thing people notice about me

I usually have something to say about everything...occasionally profound, more frequently funny, although sometimes one gets mistaken for the other.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Omnivore's Dilemma,The Post-American World by Fareed Zakaria, The river of Doubt, Cryptonomicon, Pillars of the Earth... very entertaining! Often there is a tinge of environmental awareness going into the future while staying optimistic about us humans! Recently; The Anansi Boys; very fun!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The support and love of my family
  2. The beauty of the World around me, particularly the wilderness!
  3. My good fortune in living in the time and country that I do.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My imagination... to be fair not all circumstances allow me to put it on display, but it a personal blessing I am truly thankful for.

Friends Describe me as

Funny, Kind, Physically Fit, Thoughtful

A little more about me

I'm not a huge foodie... I like good food, but not to the degree that I am willing to spend a long time (at least by myself) in complex preparations. With the occasional exception, like sushi, for me less is more. About twice a year I need to do jigsaw puzzles.

I am
Very Liberal
