The one thing I am passionate about...
I love to learn. Whether it's jazz, history, language or medicine, I like to look at the details. For me, understanding the differences (and similarities) between ragtime and blues or how it is that two languages share a common background is exciting. If I have a remote interest in a subject, I dive into it and learn as much as I can. I find it helps me to appreciate it even more when I know a lot about it (or I can realize I don't like it so much after all, but at least I have a reason for not liking it). All in all, I'm driven to gain knowledge and I believe it's something to strive for always.
I typically spend my leisure time
Reading - I like 'hearing' the stories people tell about life. For the fiction books, I like the creative places the author takes me. Other times, when the weather is great and I can find a partner, you could not pull me from a tennis court if you tried. Thirdly, I like to relax. The stress of life can take over very quickly if you don't make time to unwind. Entertainment (music, movies, etc) or an undisturbed day at the park/beach/home are relaxing to me.
The most influential person in my life has been
It's difficult to shrink it down to one, but I'll say honesty.
The first thing people notice about me
I've been told maturity then, reserve.
The last book I read and enjoyed
:-) Well..., interestingly enough, it was Dr. Neil Warren's book Falling in Love for All the Right Reasons. I think we know what it was about - the title is self explanatory. I liked his detailed analysis of the twenty nine dimensions of compatibility. Granted I feel people could comfortably do without considering some of the dimensions, I was obviously convinced of their effectiveness in helping to choose a mate, as evidenced in my membership here. There are other books I've enjoyed and would love to share what I found interesting about them (e.g.: Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis or The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald).
The three things which I am most thankful for
- God's grace.
- A loving family.
- The ability to reach for (or work toward) my dreams.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
My drive, which may seem self-serving, is mainly fueled by my care for others.

A little more about me
I hope to travel more (beyond the 250 mile radius of my home). I want to see different parts of the world starting now - not just in retirement.
