More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about the goals I've set for myself. Recently those were to finish my master's and to buy a house. When I set my mind on something I try my best to accomplish it. Many of my goals are related to my own learning or improving my ability to become a better teacher. Influencing the learning experiences of my students is something I take seriously.

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy outdoor activities like fishing and hiking. It's rewarding preparing a meal from something I've reeled in. I enjoy going to sporting events, baseball and hockey in particular. I watch most of the Rangers games on TV. I try and keep up with my Sports Illustrated, National Geographic, or read a newspaper article (or the comics) of interest. In nice weather I like to go out for a nice bike ride.

The most influential person in my life has been

I want to meet somebody who values honesty, integrity, and character.

The first thing people notice about me

I think I'm fairly patient. You have to be if you are a teacher. I try not to get stressed out about an abundance of work or the problems that arise in day to day life.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I'm reading "The Dumbest Generation." It's not quite as condescending as it sounds, but as a teacher it is interesting to see what kinds of attitudes today's students have towards learning.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family and friends - supportive and dependable (I know that's 2, but I asked the judges first)
  2. My education
  3. My job - it's something I love to do

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Although I can appear serious, I am sensitive to what people around me say and feel. I value the trust of another. I can be very self-reflective, but I'm slow at it. It takes me awhile to process certain thoughts and feelings, but I do care very much about what others say.

Friends Describe me as

Dependable, Easy-Going, Hard Working, Intelligent

A little more about me

I'm an Eagle Scout and I take pride in that.
