More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I care deeply for my friends and family. I am committed to protecting the world that sustains, nurtures, and entertains us. I believe in doing my best and appreciate those who give of their best talents, whatever that may be. I am a former Shakespearean actress, and I love to play. I enjoy visiting favorite places I have found around the world and exploring new places.

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy being with my family and friends. I enjoy being in nature, especially hiking, sitting on top of a mountain, walking on the beach. I would like to take up kayaking and other ways to enjoy nature. I love to dance!

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindness

The first thing people notice about me

I'll have to ask them... probably that I am outgoing

The last book I read and enjoyed

Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel has had a big impact on how I think about the world. It was so interesting to think about the evolution of human societies based on broad underlying factors such as technologies and cultures spreading along east/west axis of Europe and Asia. There are major underlying factors that are influencing where our world is headed, and this book helped to shape my thinking in the important work I am doing on climate and energy issues.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am thankful for the beautiful world in which we live. I love the forests, the stars, the water, the wildlife, the air, the mountains.
  2. I am grateful for my family and friends and their love.
  3. I am grateful for all that has given to me -- my education, the safety and comfort of my life, my community. I believe we live in a blessed, fortunate time.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My sense of humor -- it tends to come out around the people I'm really comfortable with, like my sister and her children. I was a talented comedic actress once upon a time.

A little more about me

I like to explore life and be open to possibilities. A professor in art school (my graduate degree) once said to be open to colors that you don't first like together, to work with them, and you just might find you fall in love with them together. It's a great metaphor for life.
