More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about the art that I make, but I'm also careful to "stop and smell the roses". And I could much more eloquently paint what I mean by that than describe it, in words, in this box.

I typically spend my leisure time

Spent a month out west climbing this year, once held a dinner party at a batting cage, and grew up with water sports, so it's pretty varied! I go to the gym, read, garden, play with small children, shoot a few hoops, swim, explore... Love music and theater and dance as well as the visual arts, comedy clubs, and intelligent movies. Cooking great meals with a man or with friends. Involved in several charities. Libraries, used book stores, fireworks, museums, public gardens... are you bored yet? Sounds like I'm running for Miss Congeniality (and I'm most definitely not!)

The most influential person in my life has been

Great conversations and ease with someone whose fitness and health matches my own.

The first thing people notice about me

That I think outside the box.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Strength In What Remains (life in Burundi),The Fall (mountain climbing), Isaac's Storm (development of weather bureaus), Fools' Gold (the financial meltdown), The Big Short (the financial meltdown but so hilarious it's like a standup comic's material), Everybody Was So Young (the real people behind Hemingway and Fitzgerald characters), "e" (very funny workplace novel written entirely in email), Elsewhere USA, examining changes in our thoughts and conduct the last 30 years. Books on eastern/western outlooks, buddhism, etc. Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself (interview of David Foster Wallace by David Lipsky)

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. everyone who ever helped me
  2. anyone who makes me laugh
  3. the many moments of delight in my life so far

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I've got a locker full of amazing architectural salvage, and could use a hand turning it all into an outrageously delightful tree house. Interest and/or participation not required, but one can dream, right?

Friends Describe me as

Creative, Funny, Intelligent, Physically Fit

A little more about me

I most love living in New York, but decided to try Charleston a couple of years ago. So far it's lovely! This year I've been doing some of those 60-miles-in-3-days charity fundraisers - Boston, Cleveland, and so forth - the Forrest Gump way to familiarize yourself with other cities:) Maybe not my best idea...
