The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about my relationship with my God who carried me through the loss of my husband two years ago to cancer. I'm absolutely passionate about family and providing a happy home base for my daughter in college and my 18-year-old son in high school that's built on a firm foundation of love and laughter. And there's more than enough caring and fun times to share... some day I would like my family circle to include a family-oriented Christian guy who is always ready to meet life with a laugh!
I typically spend my leisure time
I really enjoy spending time with my children and other family members or friends, just talking, watching a movie at home (I've a weakness for old movies) or at the theater, eating out, or taking long walks. I also love going to plays, especially if my daughter is a member of the cast. Also, I'm fascinated by words--my degree is in English--so I can lose myself in a good book or magazine article. And I have to admit that although I'm as non-violent a person as you'll ever meet, I really enjoy watching crime shows where they use forensics or profiling to find "who done it."
The most influential person in my life has been
I'm actually looking for a person that the word "quality" describes well--family-oriented, patient, easy-going with a good sense of humor who is interested in merging his family and mine to make a rock-solid "ours." He'll want a life partner who'll be a friend and companion--to share his life through both happy times and sad. This gentleman has a little romance in his soul, enjoys giving and receiving physical affection, and oh yes.. he'll kill spiders for me. And it wouldn't hurt if he liked my cooking... I'm told I can make a mean batch of chocolate chip cookies...
The first thing people notice about me
I believe people notice my smile first. I've been told that my smile gives a warm and friendly greeting before I ever say a word. My mother taught me to smile even when I don't feel like it... smile although I'm shy... smile and most people's reaction is to smile back. By the way, my mother was right...
The last book I read and enjoyed
I'm right at the end of the wonderful book, Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard. I don't know how I missed reading this book all these years--it's a lovely little allegorical tale of Much Afraid and her journey with companions Sorrow and Suffering to reach the High Places where the Shepherd lives. I love the simplicity of the story and the tender and protective love and patient teaching of the Shepherd. And my goodness, can I identify with Much Afraid as she matures in her relationship with the Shepherd during her journey!
The three things which I am most thankful for
- I am thankful for a God who loves me even when I am unlovable, and who has an unlimited store of understanding and humor. And yes, I believe God has a sense of humor!
- And I'm grateful for the gift of almost 24 years of marriage to a good man who was also my best friend. As a team we built a life with lots of love, good times... and good food. Yep, good food was always an important part of our family life--wonderful aromas, family chats in the kitchen... food can be an expression of love.
- My family is a blessing and I can't imagine life without my great kids with loving spirits... even if they do make my hair stand on end at times. I'm also thankful for my close relationship with my four older siblings and for the future life partner God has waiting out there for me...
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Uhh.h.h... that on rare occasions, I really CAN say no to chocolate. They'd have to watch me for a really long time, of course... Okay, actually I guess I wish that people would notice right away that I have BIG trouble with names... if they would just repeat their names every other word or so, maybe it would boost my memory. And I really wish one more thing... that people could know right away that I can be trusted and would do them no harm.

A little more about me
Maybe you'd like to know that my absolute favorite color is yellow--it's the happiest color on earth! And I love rainy days--I've been told I'd make a great Seattle person because I never get tired of them. I also want you to know that weeks ago my sister-in-law suggested that I join eharmony--her neighbor and others highly recommended it--now that I feel ready to move forward and perhaps meet others who've experienced the pain and loneliness of losing a spouse. It took weeks to join and get comfortable enough to provide much information. But now the words are flowing and through them--if you care to look--you can see the real me...
