More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

My family and friends -- my personal ambitions have become 10 times more meaningful since I realized how utterly important they are to me. . . . I'm also a lover of music, especially classical, alternative, and hip-hop, and I'll defend all things 80's to the death. . . . I love to sing, but haven't really done it seriously since college, unless "Rock Band" and karaoke count.

I typically spend my leisure time

I love trying new restaurants and cafes and am lucky there are hundreds of really, really good ones in this city. I've also picked up an expensive interest in clothes over the last couple of years, especially denim -- is that random? -- and again, living in Manhattan has definitely fed that interest. I'm not a big drinker by any means, but every once in a while I like going out for beers with friends. Lately I've been reading a lot more. A little late, but I'm really into Murakami right now.

The most influential person in my life has been

Someone who's committed to her values but is also comfortable in multiple settings. Nothing is cooler to me than a person who can be genuinely warm to all types of people -- not just her friends from church, but non-believers, too -- especially since a lot of my friends aren't Christian.

The first thing people notice about me

That I'd rather listen than talk. I'm sociable, I'd just rather be the one asking questions and learning about people.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Jesus' Son" by Denis Johnson. It's not what it sounds like. It's actually a collection of really dark, disconnected short stories told from the point of view of a drug addict. It's a little like Pulp Fiction -- there's no plot, but the imagery and pacing of the stories keep you hooked.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Having close relationships with my parents.
  2. Having a core group of friends I can always be myself around, no more, no less.
  3. Being able to do something for a living that I genuinely enjoy.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm open-minded and always up for new things.
