More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Experiencing life with the people closest to me, listening to music (I like classical, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, some metal, hip-hop), watching movies (some I like are Memento, Amelie, The New World, The Fountain, Ghost World). I'm also somewhat passionate about animal rights, particularly pet ownership.

I typically spend my leisure time

Hang out with friends, eat out (just discovered Thai food!), read (mostly Tolkien and Vonnegut), listen to music (most recently Talib Kweli), watch movies (most recently Wong Kar-Wai films and BBC docs), waste time on the Internet (I read a lot of sports analysis, mostly about the Baltimore Ravens), games (Guillotine, chess, Scrabble, Dungeons & Dragons)

The most influential person in my life has been

Goofiness. I like girls that I can be silly with.

The first thing people notice about me

People have told me that they find it easy to talk to me and that I ask good questions. (The "people" in question were sitting right beside me when I filled this out, so I asked them what they would first notice about me.) :-)

The last book I read and enjoyed

Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut. It is a sort of alternate history of America, with the protagonist having played a part in Watergate, and a corporation called RAMJAC taking over everything. My favorite part of the book was the climax, which, like most Vonnegut climaxes, is something of an anti-climax, even though his books tend to build relentlessly towards them. So, it's like you should be let down, but Vonnegut wants you to be let down, so then it's not a let down after all.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My friends
  2. My parents
  3. Not getting expelled from grad school for refusing to remove my ping pong table from my TA office. :-)

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That my self-deprecating sense of humor doesn't imply low self-esteem.

Friends Describe me as

Articulate, Funny, Good listener, Loyal
