More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Photography, kayaking, exploring the world, learning about new things, great conversations, meeting interesting people, walking/hiking, being outdoors, prowling through interesting shops, seeing art, making art, playing with my granddaughters, hanging out with friends. reading, playing the hammered dulcimer

I typically spend my leisure time

photography, walking/hiking, watching movies ... I love just hanging out, having great conversations, exploring new things ... whether it's travel to a new country or the latest exhibit at a local museum or art gallery. I like having new experiences and following a whim. Right now I'm fascinated by Frank Gehry and am planning a "pilgrimage" to LA and Spain to see his buildings.

The most influential person in my life has been

Just ONE? Way too hard. Would it be kindness or a sense of humor? Honesty or generosity? Curiosity about the world or a sense of connection with all of nature? A willingness to explore or contentment with what's here right now? Or maybe a deep understanding that the paths we choose, the challenges we face, the hardships we endure and the joy of living ... they are all connected. Isn't life interesting!

The first thing people notice about me

Since I've never met myself for the first time, I have no idea. It reminds me of the saying: When I was 20 I worried about what people thought about me. When I was 40 I quit worrying about what people thought about me. When I turned 60, I realized that they weren't thinking about me. I hope people notice that I treasure the gift of life and am doing my best to be worthy of it.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I read several at the same time. Current reads: House of Rain - Tracking a Vanished Civilization Across the American Southwest; Aging Well; Anam Cara, Spiritual Wisdom from the Celtic World; and True Perception, the Path of Dharma Art. Just finished The History of Love ... a strange and wonderful novel unlike anything I've read before.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Being blessed with extremely good health and energy that allows me to be physically, mentally and emotionally engaged with the world.
  2. My friends and family who add joy and depth to my life.
  3. My resilient and optimistic nature which has helped me weather the storms of life and wake up each morning eager to start the day.

Friends Describe me as

Creative, Generous, Genuine, Optimistic

A little more about me

Developing a friendship over time and creating memories together would be more fun than trying to write six decades of living into these tiny little boxes.
