The one thing I am passionate about...
My family is central to my life. I have the best job in the world for me, it uses all my talents and skills in doing something rewarding and I work with world-class people while doing it. I love to learn, and I love to teach. In addition to my day job I teach graduate school classes and am working on a graduate degree myself. I also enjoy completing projects around the house-- building a stone wall or a garden shed, etc. Constantly learning new things, I try to do at least one "different" thing every month. Some I like and continue, like riding lessons. For others, once is enough. "The only things I regret are the things I didn't do!
I typically spend my leisure time
Home improvement projects (the current one is a stone wall, recent ones include a bathroom remodel and a large garden shed/workshop), travel, reading, and chopping firewood. I use a LOT of firewood! One of the things I like about living in Atlanta is that it is chilly enough to make a warm fire really appreciated, but not so cold as to make it a chore. I love to host dinner parties for 6, 8, 10 people from different aspects of my life. I like to mix up my guests- colleagues from work, friends from spiritual activities, neighbors-- people from all different backgrounds and points of view. Interactions are much more interesting that way!
The most influential person in my life has been
We're all multi-dimensional. Mutual respect is a must to build a relationship on. It's important to have the right mix of things in common, like shared core values. (These come out in the Must Haves and Can't Stands.) But the differences in life experiences and outlook give us something new to share and learn with our partner. I'd like to share her world and show her mine. I like being with someone who sees life as exciting, not something to be afraid of. A while back I decided I would do at least one thing every month that was "outside-the-box" for me. Karaoke, horseback riding, scuba, and next month. . . ??
The first thing people notice about me
My colleagues notice my work ethic...my neighbors notice I'm always doing projects around the house...my family notices how much I love them and care for them and about them...the cats notice how warm and comfortable I am to snuggle with on chilly Atlanta evenings...my friends notice that I love to cook and have people over for dinner... I guess we are all multi-faceted and what people notice depends on where they are looking!
The last book I read and enjoyed
I read a lot and enjoy fiction (techno-thrillers, spy novels) and non-fiction. Recent interesting books I've read are biographies of Adams and Franklin, "Guns, Germs, and Steel" "Traffic" "The Long Tail" "The Political Brain" and "QED" by Richard Feynman, an incredible person, physicist, drummer, artist and teacher. 1493, about the Columbian exchange, and, of course, 50 Shades of Gray because several women I know suggested it. I also turn to books whenever I want to learn something new. I'm taking horseback riding lessons, so I'm reading "The Schooling of the Western Horse."
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family-- my three grown sons, mother, sister and her family
- Being able to use my talents and skills in fulfilling, rewarding, significant work
- My health-- being healthy enough to enjoy life
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I don't know-- why don't you tell me what you DON'T notice? ;-) I love to learn, and love to teach. Right now, aside from my day job (I'm a health communications specialist) I'm working on a graduate degree in epidemiology AND teaching college and graduate courses. So how can there be time for the right woman? Well, it's all about priorities. For the right woman, I would MAKE the time. I suspect one reason my life is so full right now is that there's no joy in coming home to an empty house, so I fill it with other things.

A little more about me
I'm still working on this profile, as I am still working on myself. (Right now I'm working on healing some ribs I broke falling off a horse!) Also, I completed the Premium Personality Profile (and opened it for anyone to see-- I really am an open book!) and I find it is a very accurate portrayal-- or at least an accurate portrayal of how I see MYSELF-- with one exception. I don't think I am nearly as outgoing and extroverted as the final item describes. I can mingle in a social situation, and am comfortable meeting strangers, but if you're looking for the life of the party, you need to overlook me. You can see me at LinkedIn, Frank Ceo
