The one thing I am passionate about...
Finding a new way at looking at things, even if those things are very plain and normal. I am passionate about creating our lives, not letting our lives create us. And of course, expanding the minds of the youth to ensure the greatest possible future. Yes, I'm one of THOSE teachers.
I typically spend my leisure time
Leisure time? What is leisure time? I guess technically my "leisure" time is filled with: Coaching Soccer/basketball, Hosting an after school club, grading, hosting several monthly functions, and traveling a lot to Philadelphia to visit friends/parents. I would like my leisure time to be filled with a little bit more leisure and hope to find someone who can encourage that. Even if that leisure time isn't laying around doing nothing (Though don't get me wrong, I love laying around and doing nothing too.)
The most influential person in my life has been
Someone who challenges yet compliments me. Pushes me and holds me back. The contradiction to my oxymoron. Someone who can keep up with the madness of a school year and enjoy the lulls in the storm. And someone willing to learn to Tango would be a plus.
The first thing people notice about me
That they know someone exactly like me. I've been stopped by people on the street thinking I'm some cousin or long lost friend. Either there are a lot of people who look like me out there or something to do with parallel dimensions.
The last book I read and enjoyed
In my younger, and more formative years, my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since. "Whenever you feel like criticizing any one,? he told me, ?just remember that all the people in this world haven?t had the advantages that you?ve had.?
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My creative talent with both the written word and music. It has contributed greatly towards becoming a successful teacher.
- My ability to laugh at life, others, and myself.
- Random happenings
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
How hard I've worked to get where I am.
Friends Describe me as
Creative, Funny, Romantic, Spontaneous
A little more about me
I'm a transplant in every sense of the word. I was born in Germany, moved to Michigan and grew up there, moved to the Philadelphia area 6 years ago, to Virginia for two years, back to Philadelphia, and then to Bethlehem for work. It's not that I wish all of this travel upon myself, but life just works out that way.I am an unapologetic geek and nerd. I'm probably one of the few English teachers who hates Shakespeare (and yes, while a strong word, it is apt.) I recently bought a house which one would think means stability but really just means yard work. To quote F. Scott Fitzgerald, I'm one of the few honest people I know. Exce
