The one thing I am passionate about...
Finding someone whom I can value as a friend, lover, confidant, companion... this is the passion that counts most right now. This is, after all, why I am here. My life is enriched by good literature, philosophy, music, and by the enjoyment I get with oils and pastels. I am devoted to my friends and family, and will go to great lengths to help when one of them is in need. Once I have met the person with whom I intend to spend the remainder of my life I hope that we will discover passions that we share.
I typically spend my leisure time
I read. A lot. I go to a gym 6-7 days a week in an attempt to slow the ravages of age. I paint with oils and pastels. Recently I have enjoyed some kayaking and camping, and found to my surprise that I enjoyed both. I enjoy a good hike. I would like to take up ballroom dancing, if I can find a partner who doesn't mind a beginner.
The most influential person in my life has been
Strong, self reliant, sensible- those are the essentials. She'll be warm and open with intimates and friends, but she'll bring the same confidence and assurance to her close relationships that she does to her life in general. She'll know what she wants, and won't have any hesitation asking for it. If something isn't the way she likes it she'll make it known. She will take life seriously, but still be able to laugh at herself and the world. Okay, that's more than one thing, but these are important to me. If you send questions or an icebreaker to me and I don't respond, 95% of the time it's because of the distance between us.
The first thing people notice about me
Well mannered, but a little eccentric.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Collected verses of Edna St Vincent Millay. Her name is one I encountered in public school. That exposure did not give the least impression of how powerful and passionate her work is. There are two poets I can read in an entire collection like this- the other being Dylan Thomas. I'm not sure which I like more.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family, friends, and co-workers
- My health
- My job
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'm very sensitive to people's feelings and very empathic. This generally doesn't come out unless I know someone well, but it's a quality I have that can be valuable to people in need.
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Funny, Intelligent, Loyal
A little more about me
I have depression. This is going to affect how most people see me, so best to be honest. It doesn't affect my everyday life, but it's there. I haven't lost work from it in nearly 10 years. I have a terrific support system- doctor, friends, family. Maybe there's someone out there who can look past this and find someone who would make a good and true friend. It takes strength to fight this, so I'm no wimp. But if it's macho you're after look elsewhere. If this isn't honesty, I'd like to know what is.
